Lifestyle Awareness was developed by Peter Connolly, Senior Occupational Therapist following years of working with busy professionals who were struggling with managing their stress, sleep and anxiety, often leading to burn out or a mental health crisis.
It’s often said prevention is better than the cure, Peter grew frustrated that there was a lack of evidenced based options, knowledge and resources in this space and shifted his focus to work with people at an earlier stage in their struggling.
Like many people I got to a point where the busyness and intensity of my life was not sustainable, and began to burn out. I developed insomnia which I struggled with for one year, this eventually led me to a journey into mindfulness, skills training and changing my relationship with busyness, and direction in life. I have sought out teachers & practitioners from around the world to learn from and credit them in any resources I share in my work.
I have completed teacher training in Mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Sleep Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Stress Management, Personal Training, and Nutrition. I regularly attend training workshops and receive external supervision to keep my own practice focused, current and in line with best practice guidelines.
